See here for the 2026 program.
- Meet time: 7:00am
- Competition time: 7:00am to early afternoon
- We sometimes finish earlier depending on numbers, but it’s best to plan to be on the beach until about 2pm.
We meet at Bondi Beach. Look for us:
- In the car park in front of 3rd ramp (just south of the lifeguard tower), or
- On the promenade, as we may already be setting up on the sand
- The hot pink tent is your landmark.
The days schedule will be published on LiveHeats on the Friday before comp day.
There is a Competition Information Board located at the tent, along with regular announcements throughout the morning about upcoming heats and finals.
Competitions are rarely cancelled, but check on our socials for updates.
A final decision is made at the earliest possible time on the morning of the contest if conditions are deemed too flat or unsafe.
Comps are not usually postponed. If a competition is cancelled during the day, the Competition Director will guide competitors.
Only if you want it to be!
You can be as competitive — or as cruisy — as you like.
Our comps are designed to be supportive, fun and confidence-building, with progression at the centre.
You don’t need extra insurance. Registering with us via Liveheats includes affiliation Surfing NSW, which covers you for personal injury during sanctioned events or club activities.
Free surfing is not permitted in the competition area unless you are in a heat. Any competitor surfing the comp zone outside their heat will not receive points for that event.
All competitors must:
- Return rashies immediately
- Help carry gear off the beach
- Assist with beach clean-up
BGSR is run by a fabulous team of volunteers who keep the club running smoothly. They appreciate all and any assistance from general members, particularly on comp days. Ways you can help are:
- Offering to help with the flags
- Checking in with the judges to see if anyone needs a coffee or a bite to eat
- Judging courses are available for those who want to flex their muscles in the judging chair - see your committee for details!
